Freediving fins are the most important piece of equipment a freediver can choose. The right blade material, stiffness, and foot pocket combination directly affects your kick efficiency, oxygen consumption, depth potential, and comfort underwater. This category features premium carbon and fiberglass freediving fins from world-leading brands including CETMA, UltraFins, WaterWay, and 29/71 — covering everything from entry-level fiberglass setups to professional carbon blades engineered for record-depth performance.

Blade Material — Which Should You Choose?

Carbon Fiber — The lightest and most efficient blade material available. Superior energy transfer, minimal effort per kick, ideal for depth and competition. Fragile — not recommended for beginners or rocky reef environments

Fiberglass (Composite) — The best all-round choice for most freedivers. Natural flex, durable, responsive, and significantly more affordable than carbon. Performs at 70–80% of carbon efficiency — excellent for open water and reef diving

Plastic / Technopolymer — Entry-level material, durable and affordable. Ideal for first-time freedivers, warm-up use, and training. Lower efficiency than fiber or carbon but highly forgiving

Bi-material / Rails — Blades featuring carbon or fiber core with rubber or plastic reinforced rails for improved tracking, stability, and blade longevity in demanding conditions

How to Choose Blade Stiffness

Stiffness is the single most important variable when selecting freediving fins — choosing incorrectly will cost you depth, efficiency, and comfort regardless of blade material. Stiffness should be matched to your body weight, leg strength, kick frequency, and primary use. A blade that is too stiff will fatigue your legs and waste oxygen; too soft and you lose propulsion and drift in current. When in doubt, go one grade softer — it is easier to develop technique on a softer blade than to fight an overstiff one.

Soft — Lighter divers (under 70kg), beginners, slow kick cycles, shallow reef dives, long sessions where leg fatigue is a concern

Medium — The safest all-round choice for most adult freedivers; balanced power and ease of use across depths and conditions

Medium-Hard / Hard — Strong, heavier divers (80kg+) with refined technique; deep diving, strong currents, competitive use

Extra Hard — Advanced competitive freedivers only; maximum propulsion for record-depth dives with powerful, trained leg drive

Blades vs. Full Fins — What to Know Before You Buy

Many freediving shops and retailers sell as blades only — separate from foot pockets. This allows divers to pair their preferred blade with the foot pocket that best suits their foot shape and fit preference. At our shop we have separate categories for Blades Only and Complete Fins. If you are buying blades only, ensure you also select compatible foot pockets — contact us before ordering if you are unsure about compatibility, and we will advise on the correct pairing for your foot size and blade model.
